Precision surface & form grinding
Flat, parallel and square to the tenths, plus complex form grinding, from a dedicated grinding department in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
A grinding department, not a grinder in the corner
Many machine shops own a surface grinder. Few have a grinding specialist. Our grinding work is led by a specialist who has spent more than 30 years in the trade and has been part of the Crescent team since 2008. That experience shows on complex form work that most shops send out.
We run surface grinders set up specifically for surface and form work. Our main workhorse is an Okamoto ACC-1224DX with a 12″ × 24″ magnetic chuck.
What we grind
- Flat, parallel & square blocks
- Hardened tool steel components
- Die & punch components
- Wear plates & strips
- Gauge blocks & fixture details
- Profiles & complex forms

Machined and ground under one roof
Because grinding sits next to our CNC milling and turning departments, parts that need to be machined, heat treated and then ground to final size don’t bounce between vendors. You get one PO, one schedule and one point of contact.
We also take grind-only work: send us your hardened parts and we’ll grind them to print.
Cylindrical (OD/ID) grinding
We handle limited between-centers work today. If you have recurring OD or ID grinding needs, tell us about them. We’re open to expanding this capability where customers need it.
